PHOENIX FENCING FALL 2015: 

Monday Tournaments & Cross-Training Thursdays

Phoenix Fencing Club is hosting a Masters Fall Series Foil, Sabre and Epee September through December 2015. Start date is Thursday, 24 September, 2015; end date is Thursday, 10 December, 2015. Our Fall Program has two components – Competition Mondays & Cross-Training Thursdays.

Cross-Training Thursdays:  Cross-Training to support physical development in our fencers.

Dates & Information:
24 September – Power Yoga with Andrea Mislan – Please bring a yoga mat, water bottle and small towel.
22 October – The Fitual Workout with Chalnessa.  Please bring a yoga mat, water ​bottle​and small towel.
26 November – to be advised
10 December – Prairie Roots Yoga with Bryanna Spina – relaxation & flexibility.  Please bring a yoga mat and water bottle​.

Regular Fencing will commence at 8:10pm on the above evenings.
Cross-training Thursdays are included in all club fees.  Please RSVP your attendance.

Tournament Mondays:  formats TBD, suggestions welcome, keeping in mind this is tournament training for those going to Canada Cups, Westerns & CanAm

Note:  as multiple weapons are being offered you may have to pick one to keep the evening moving.
Note:  Events will be self refereed but monitored.

Who can Fence?
To participate you must hold a valid MFA Membership, a valid CFF Licence and you must be 25 years of age or older (born 1990 or earlier). Fencers over twenty and under twenty-five are welcome; must have a valid CFF licence, and pay the registration fee.

Equipment and what to wear?
This is a recreational event and not an Open, which means you are still required to wear proper safety equipment – glove, jacket, mask, athletic footwear, sous plastron, chest protector (female only), and fencing socks with fencing Pants or long athletic pants. Sorry, shorts will not be permitted for safety reasons; partial jackets are also not permitted.
Please bring your own electric equipment, in good working order. If you do not have your own perhaps you can borrow from club-mates or your club.
FIE rules will apply (bib mask for foil, poules, DE’s etc.), events scored on electric boxes with current timing and clocks. Mask check prior to each start.

Will be posted here.
All events will be self-refereed but monitored.

Location:
Phoenix Fencing Club, Earl Grey Community Centre, 360 Cockburn Street North.
There will be no on-site Canteen so please bring your own supply of beverages and snacks. Water fountain available.

Schedule of Events:
Nightly Group Warm-Up 7-7:20 pm
Poules begin 7:20 pm
• At the discretion of the DT, fencers not present for poules will be awarded losses and accept the penalty in the cumulative ranking.
• Weapons with fewer than 4 entries may be cancelled.

ENTRY FEE:
Fee for the series is $50; drop-in fee $10/evening. Registration can be done via the Phoenix Fencing page on the Crossed Swords website starting October 2015. Online registration and payment only. Fee includes participation in as many weapons as you would like to compete in.
